Noisettes at Amoeba and the Troubadour June 15 2007

Noisettes did a double header on Friday night when they stopped on tour in Los Angeles. After a long day of driving down from San Francisco, Noisettes immediately took the Amoeba stage at around 7pm. I think the band was pretty surprised to see the crowd of about 150 people huddled up front around the stage at Amoeba. The band was a little late to start the set but made it up to their finds by playing an extended set which lasted about 8 songs. Because of their stripped down acoustic set up, Shingai’s vocal talents were really showcased during the set. There was an older gentleman who walked by me as Shingai hit a couple high notes and just said “WOW!” The performance was available worldwide as it streamed live on Amoeba’s website and will most likely be available online at a later date on the site. After their set, the band kindly signed autographs and took photos with the fans that bought their record that day. Once the signing was finished, Amoeba staffers interviewed Shingai about the tour and the record and we’ll hopefully see the interview online as well. Later that night the band took the stage at the world famous Troubadour. The was completely sold out and packed on the floor. I don’t know how the band summoned up all their energy after a long day and already one performance, but their set was nothing but non-stop energy. Shingai was all over the stage, bouncing around and climbing on the railings during the set. The crowd was really into the show – even a mini mosh pit formed near the left side of the stage. Noisettes ripped through their set that seemed to have lasted only 20 minutes even though they played for over an hour. Jamie was really holding it down on the drums and I heard people in the crowd saying things like “that drummer is awesome!” and “he is insane on the drums!” Overall the show was amazing! I think a lot of people who had heard good things about their live show and finally saw them live were really impressed and became new fans. Thanks to all the label and UMGD support at this show.
