G. Love Tower Sherman Oaks Sept. 1 2006

Tuesday night, G. Love and Special Sauce celebrated the release of “Lemonade” with an in-store performance and signing at Tower Records in Sherman Oaks. When I arrived at the store early in the afternoon, already there was a group of die hard fans outside the store anticipating the special performance. The store set up a 4 ft. endcap filled with the new release and next to I was able to set up a cooler full of lemonade courtesy of Vitaminwater, which the fans enjoyed and actually kept as a souvenir. By 7:30pm the line grew to 100 people and I was ecstatic to see a lot of young fans in the crowd, however there was a nice mix of all ages in the house. G. Love and Special Sauce took the stage at about 8:30 and rocked a 30 minute set which included: “Hot Cookin” “Rainbow,” “Thanks and Praise,” and “Holla.” It was great to see the fans helping G. Love out during “Hot Cookin” when the mic malfunctioned momentarily and they sang the lyrics aloud. My favorite moment of the night was when G. Lover freestyled during “Jersey” and rhymed about Tower Records, the Sherman Oaks Galleria and the In-Store. Afterwards, G. Love and Special Sauce signed autographs and took pictures with their fans. The crowd ended up growing to 150 people and Tower ended up selling 110 copies of “Lemonade.”
