Matt Costa ended his 3 days of LA Region in-stores on a high note. This last in-store in Pomona, CA at the newly-opened Glasshouse Record Store had an amazing crowd. Being the first in-store for this store, we didn’t really know what to expect, but by the time I arrived just before 5pm – there was already a line of about 30 people outside. That line grew to about 200 people just before 7pm and even wrapped around the block. The store allowed for 200 to come inside and a crowd of about 50 watched the performance from outside on the sidewalk. The fans that came out to Pomona were really excited and got into the show singing and clapping along to the songs. “Sweet Rose” and “Ballad of Miss Kate” got the crowd pumped. I think the highlight of the night was when everyone in the room and outside sang the outro of “Sunshine” along with Matt.
After the set, the store cleared out and a line was formed outside for the signing. Matt came out to the counter and started signing as fans were let back in the store in small groups. Like Matt always does, he shared a little time to chat with each fan as he signed their CDs and posters, and posed for photos. It was really great to see that some of his fans came out and supported all three of the in-stores. The store was really happy at the outcome of the event and ended up selling 76 copies of “Songs We Sing.”
Thanks to Frank Arigo from Universal and ADR Earl Jackson for support at all three events. Thanks to Josh Nicotra of Brushfire for attending the Glasshouse Records in-store. Thanks to James Allen and everyone at the Glasshouse for helping put together their first ever in-store performance, which ended up being a huge success
