The last stop on G. Love’s California in-store tour was at Lou’s Records in Encinitas, CA. Although the weather was a little cloudy yesterday, the neighborhood definitely came out to support G. Love and Special Sauce for their parking lot performance. The early group of fans showed up early in the afternoon and claimed their spots at the front of the stage with their camping chairs. They were pleasantly surprised to get some free Vitaminwater lemonade as they watch the crew set up and sound check. As the afternoon went on, more and more fans began gathering and by 6pm the crowd grew to over 450 people. G. Love took the stage at about 6:30 and played 7 songs to the energetic crowd. The set included “Free,” “Hot Cookin’” and “Thanks & Praise” from the new record. “Jersey” has become the new audience participation song, and G. Love mixed in some of his older songs including “Back of the Bus” and “Booty Call.” G. Love even busted out a verse from Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice.” However, the highlight of the evening was the guest appearance from San Diego’s own Tristan Prettyman, as she joined G. Love onstage to perform the song “Beautiful.”
After the set, G. Love and Special Sauce signed autographs and took pictures with their fans who bought the new record. Lou’s ended up selling 150 copies of “Lemonade.”
