Colbie Caillat Fingerprints In-store

Colbie Caillat delivered a wonderful acoustic set to a crowd of about 70 people at Fingerprints on Sunday afternoon. Prior to the in-store the owner Rand Foster and I were a little nervous about the turn out with less than a week to promote the event. With only a few email blasts and some flyers out in the streets we didn’t know how strong the word was spread in that short time. However, both of us were relieved when Colbie’s fans showed up right at 1 o’clock for the intimate performance. The crowd was a good mix of ages ranging from 5 years old to adults in their 30s, but it was mostly female dominated. Backing up Colbie at Fingerprints was Tim on guitar and Mike on percussion – he actually played on an aluminum barrel with brushes, they treated the audience with a 4 song set which included: “Little Things,” “Realize,” “Bubbly,” and “Tied Down.” The store was able to capture the performance and will most likely be turned into a “Live from Fingerprints” EP to be used as an added value piece. After her set, Colbie took the time to sign autographs and take photos with the fans that hung out for the in-store. Fingerprints made a custom poster for the event and they gave those out to customers who pre-ordered the record. At the end of the day, Fingerprints had a total of 43 pre-orders, which is a great way to kick off the record on the west coast. Fingerprints also has “Coco” up for pre-order on their website and has received 7 online pre-orders. Rand really enjoyed Colbie and her performance and will definitely spread the word among his loyal customers and his CIMS brethren. A lot of new fans were also made that afternoon including Rand’s young daughter – she loved Colbie! Overall the event was a huge success – the store was happy and got some great early sales and some new visitors and Colbie got some new fans and the stamp of approval from a great indie tastemaker store.
