Money Mark celebrated the release of his new record “Brand New By Tomorrow” with two in-store appearances. Amoeba Hollywood hosted Money Mark and his band for a live performance on the evening of release day. Mark opened up his set with some trivia fun, as he gave out some prizes, which included a set of toy handcuffs, to fans who could answer some Money Mark and Beastie Boys trivia questions. A crowd of around 100 fans and Amoeba shoppers were treated with a 40 minute set of songs from his new release and some older favorites. The crowd responded really well to the single “Pick Up the Pieces” along with a new tune “Sneaky People.” Mark also invited up one of the sign guys from his newest video to join the band and stage and showcase his sign tricks – the crowd loved it! After his performance, Mark came out on the stage to sign autographs, take photos, and chat it up fans and some old friends. Overall the event was a success and Amoeba sold 37 copies of the CD and 7 vinyl copies.
The next evening, Fingerprints Records in Long Beach hosted the in-store for Money Mark. He opened up his performance again with a little trivia session and gave out some pins and buttons as prizes. Mark’s full band was able to fit onto the small stage, and Rand Foster brought the lights down in the store giving the feel of a cool living room show. Mark mixed up his set with some old and new tunes. The crowd at Fingerprints was really into the set and Mark was happy to see a lot of young people in the audience. There were also a few familiar faces in the music world at the event including: punk singer/bass player Mike Watt, Cold War Kids bass player Matt Maust, and Ras-1 from the Long Beach Dub All Stars. After the set, Rand did a raffle for a signed Money Mark vinyl doll that one lucky fan took home. Money Mark came out again to sign CDs and the custom art posters provided by Fingerprints for fans afterwards. Another successful event that everyone enjoyed and the store sold 29 CDs and 5 copies of the vinyl piece.
